Our Work
DBE Services has been at the forefront of decarbonisation work in schools since 2020. We have delivered over £17M of decarbonisation works in schools across Blackburn and Liverpool dioceses through successful PSDS and LCSF bids. This includes the installation of ASHP, GSHP, solar panels, electrical upgrades, and fabric improvements. We have also commissioned over 500 Heat Decarbonisation Plans for schools and have a wide, broad and deep understanding of the technologies, costs, and project required to retro-fit decarbonise a whole variety of different types of school buildings. We really enjoy working with a wonderful selection of national partners in all aspects of decarbonisation work and have regularly presented at conferences and events, included the Education Estate Conference, the Education Estates Net Zero Carbon Conference, and the Schools & Academies Show.
Who are we
DBE Services was formed and is wholly owned by Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education, Carlisle Diocesan Board of Finance, Chester Diocesan Board of Education, Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance, Manchester Diocesan Board of Education and York Diocesan Board of Finance. Together the Dioceses which formed and run the company (the Diocesan Directors of Education and Chairs of the Boards of Education act as company directors) have nearly 850 church of England schools and academies. We manage the School Condition Allocation for three dioceses and support all dioceses across the Northern Province with their school building work.
DBE Services has steadily evolved and grown over the past 20 years and has become a model example of how dioceses can work together to support all schools, generate income, protect and develop the Christian Distinctiveness of church schools, and provide a forum and platform to speak powerfully into national debate.
